A Kaleidoscope of Color
Involved in creative pursuits from a young age, Susan painted, doodled and sculpted her way through undergrad and grad school, and with degrees in hand in communications, art and education she set off on a creative career path that had her involved in television public relations and Broadway theater, then later in arts education in New York, Washington, DC, and San Francisco.
Her specialty is designing, planning, and implementing, large and small-scale youth and community educational programs, summer, afterschool, enrichment programs and camps. She was inspired to bring the arts programs to children through her own New York area studio program, The Art House, before founding CASA (Creative Arts & Summer Adventure) in Washington DC in 1994. As creator, founder and director, Susan managed all aspects of this program for over 200 children each summer which included innovative classes for ages 6-13, apprentice and training programs for ages 14-16 and a separate Reggio Emilia inspired program for ages 3-5. Each summer, classes were offered in art, drama, dance, music, sports, communications, science and technology and also included a full fledged musical theater production, talent shows, daily entertainment programs and a guest artist series. The program is still one of the most sought after programs in the DC area today.
As a Director of Auxiliary Programs for a private school, Susan developed and managed revenue generating year round day and overnight programs at two campuses for students in grades K-8. She is the author of two publications, her graphic design work has won awards and her ceramic work has been featured in juried shows. Susan has also worked on projects for schools and other programs in marketing, revenue generation and program design.
